It would get greenlit "by any studio in a second."
Video game adaptations had a dubious reputation until a couple of years ago. Now, with the overwhelming success of shows like Arcane, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, The Last of Us, and The Super Mario Bros. Movie we can expect more famous games to shift to the big screen.
Fortnite has been one of the most popular games for some time, but there's no film and even no plans to make one. However, Epic Games' Chief Creative Officer Donald Mustard knows exactly how it would go.
"It's not something we're actively working on right now. I'm not gonna say it would never happen. In fact, I mean, I know exactly how I would do the Fortnite whatever. Exactly. I know exactly the story I’d want to, but it's not the focus right now. I don’t have time."
He then added that the movie "gets greenlit by any studio in a second," but for now, there is "other stuff" the studio is working on.
Meanwhile, other developers and filmmakers are trying to hop the train with the upcoming Minecraft movie starring Jason Momoa, Dead by Daylight, Death Stranding, It Takes Two, God of War, Horizon, and more.
