Escape from Tarkov Players' Profiles Got Reset Due to a "Technical Malfunction"

Sadly, it looks like the developers won't be able to get that data back soon.

Battlestate Games, the developer of first-person shooter Escape from Tarkov, has announced that "a technical malfunction" resulted in the loss of some players' profile data. Unfortunately, the likelihood of restoring this data soon is minimal.

They didn't specify if all players are affected. However, upon checking players' posts on social media, it appears few claim to be unaffected. Here's a video clip showing what exactly happens when the issue occurs and the "Profile is null" error pops up, credit to player and X/Twitter user MrHalfanEar:

Shortly after this post, the developers sent out proportional compensation, while assuring players that "achievements and in-game stats" are not impacted by this issue.

Notably, despite being active for seven years, the game is still in a closed beta phase. Throughout this period, the developers have regularly released updates, adding new features, maps, characters, and equipment. Usually, major updates come with a wipe, resetting all players' in-game progress. However, this time, the developers have admitted that it's not a regular wipe.
