Fantasy RPGs are often associated with hundreds of hours of gameplay to beat the main quest, but that's not the case with the upcoming Fable. Playground Games and Xbox Game Studios' reboot of the beloved franchise, launching in February 2027, will feature about 20 hours to complete the main story.
During a group Q&A at Gamescom 2026, the developers shared the information about the game's length.
"We have around 15-20 hours of mainline quest gameplay, we have around 15-20 of side and open-world exploration content gameplay," associate game director Will Kennedy said (via Polygon). "And then, of course, the life systems are limitless, so you can play them for as long as you want."

Fable will also have life sim elements, and players can delve into them for as long as they like. Associate game director from Playground Games, Craig Littler, said: "You can literally play it forever if that's what you want to do."
The game will be a single-player action RPG, where players step into the shoes of the first Hero in a generation, explore a living Albion, featuring peculiar characters and dark humor. The 2027 reboot is described as "a new beginning set in a beautifully vibrant open world."
Fable will be released on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox Game Pass, Xbox PC, Steam, and PlayStation 5.
