Fan Made Star Wars Racer in VR Using Dreams for PlayStation

You'll get to feel the nostalgia when it's available to play.

The Game Awards promised many new games coming out soon, but let's delve into some good old stuff first. If you once enjoyed Star Wars Episode I: Racer, you should take a look at a talented content creator Gauffreman, who has recently showcased their own version of the game, in VR and, astonishingly, made with Dreams, a game creation system for PlayStation.

Star Wars: Racer is a 1999 racing video game based on one sequence in Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace. It received an HD version in 2020 and now a VR start thanks to Gauffreman. You can't see the actual racing in the creator's videos yet, but the podracer looks really cool and promising. You can't play the game for now, but the developer will share it with other fans when it's done.

The most surprising part of the project is the fact it's made with Dreams, a game-making game by Media Molecule, which is now in a precarious position as its support has been discontinued and it's not clear how long the app itself will be available.

Perhaps I shouldn't be as surprised by Gauffreman's creation, as we've seen multiple amazing projects that look as if they've been made in one of the popular game engines. There's been a Sonic level, Elden Ring fan art, Ghost of Tsushima, Jurassic Park, and so much more – all looking fantastic.

Gauffreman has other Dreams-made projects on their X/Twitter, however, this era is coming to an end, it seems, because the creator is moving on to Unreal Engine – a great choice, but it's a little sad to see this powerful tool from Media Molecule slowly leave.
