Former BioWare Designer Defends Studio Amid Next Mass Effect Doubts

In 2020, BioWare announced plans to develop another Mass Effect game. During the Game Awards that year, the studio released a teaser and shared on Twitter that the next title in the franchise was in early production.
Nonetheless, given that Mass Effect: Andromeda and the multiplayer RPG Anthem were considered disappointments, people have been skeptical about the quality of the next Mass Effect, especially because last year it was reported that the game was still in the pre-production stage.
But for Armando Troisi, who worked as Cinematic Designer on Mass Effect and Lead Cinematic Designer on Mass Effect 2, the future of the game is in good hands. In an interview with FRVR, when asked what advice he'd give BioWare developers, he said he believes the studio has everything it needs to create a good sequel.
"It's hard for me to say because a lot of people that are on that project were there [during the originals]," Troisi said. "They know. Preston [Watamaniuk] is there, and Derek [Watts] is there, and Parish [Ley] is there, and they're the OGs, you know? I don't think there's anything that I could tell them that they don't know what to do."
He also said that for him, it's better if the studio is allowed to do what it does best, if it doesn't have any pressure and actually trusts its developers. "It's one of those things where, if people get out of the way and let game creators just do their thing, you never know the magic that they can create," he added.
As of now, BioWare hasn't revealed a release date or official title for the game.
