The triumph is not final yet.
Although it comes a bit later than what Epic had hoped, the day has finally arrived: after more than four years and eight months of being absent from the iOS App Store in the US, Fortnite is back.
That announces a triumph for Fortnite developer, who, back in August 2020, decided to bypass Apple's 30% transaction fee by adding its own payment channel, which resulted in the game being removed from the store as Apple said this was against the App Store guidelines. That is the start of a legal battle between the two companies that has lasted for years.
Just a few days ago, Epic Games accused Apple of blocking Fortnite's submission for the US App Store and the Epic Games Store for iOS in the European Union, which made the game unavailable worldwide. The version submitted for Apple's review received no response for days, even though the usual review takes around 24 hours — it was clear that Apple was obstructing the game's return to the platform by all means.
The game's official website has been updated with the default banner announcing this news:
Despite its return to the market, some players couldn't find the game when searching. The issue is that it doesn't appear at the top of the search results and requires further scrolling down until it shows up.
The triumph is not final yet, as the game is still missing from the App Store of some other countries, like Australia and Canada. But with it reappearing in the US iOS market, it probably won't take long for the game to be set free in other regions.
