Frankelda from Stop-Motion Animated Film Recreated in 3D in Toon Style

Made by Angel Corona.

3D Modeler and Character Artist Angel Corona recreated the protagonist from the 2025 Mexican animated movie I Am Frankelda, capturing the character's traits in cartoon style using Blender.

At first glance, Frankelda's 2D-like design appears authentically cartoonish and flat-looking, but the turntable and a sneak peek at the WIP reveal that it is a masterfully crafted 3D model.

I Am Frankelda is a stop-motion animated film created by brothers Roy and Arturo Ambriz and their studio Cinema Fantasma, in collaboration with celebrated filmmaker Guillermo del Toro. It's the first Mexican movie created entirely using stop-motion animation. Guillermo del Toro called this type of animation a rare "AI-proof" art and recently collaborated with the GOBELINS Paris school and Netflix to form a stop-motion animation studio.

Angel Corona shared other amazing character models, focusing on stylized and cartoon portraits, including the take on Ippo Makunouchi, the Wolf from Puss in Boots, Kung Fu Panda's Tai Lung, and more:
