1.5TB of confidential data is at risk of being made public by the end of this week if a deal is not reached.
Kadokawa Corporation, the parent company of FromSoftware, has confirmed that they have been subjected to a cyberattack, including ransomware, since June 8th. Niconico and other associated services were targeted, and so far, there is no report on the impact on Elden Ring's developer, FromSoftware.
A statement on the Current Status of System Failure from the company detailed the incident and their ongoing response:
"On Saturday, June 8, the servers located in the KADOKAWA Group’s data center experienced a sizeable cyberattack, inclusive of ransomware, targeting Niconico and the related services.
KADOKAWA is currently considering solutions and workarounds on a company-wide basis quickly to normalize its systems and business activities."

Kadokawa Corporation is a major Japanese media conglomerate with business interests covering publishing, film and visuals, as well as cross media. It holds a 69.66% ownership stake in FromSoftware. The company has acknowledged that the Japanese video-sharing site, Niconico, seems to have been the most severely affected by the attack.
According to the ransom note on this site, 1.5 TB of data, including contracts, legal documents, user and employee information, business plans, project and financial data, along with other confidential details, was downloaded. The ransomware group has threatened to make all the downloaded data public by July 1st if they “do not reach a deal [with Kadokawa Corporation] by the end of this week."
