Glitter Shader With Sparkles That Follow Your Camera In UE5

Daniil Spivak presented his latest project.

Lead 3D Artist Daniil Spivak often uses his free time to create materials in Unreal Engine 5. In his latest experiment, he developed a dynamic glitter shader featuring tiny sparkles that shine depending on the camera's viewing angle.

According to the artist, the material is based on a custom texture where the red and green channels encode the normal direction of each sparkle. The blue channel controls the angle at which each sparkle becomes visible relative to the camera, while the alpha channel functions as a mask to define the sparkle pattern.

"It was a fun exercise to work on this shader and achieve a dynamic, shimmering look without relying on complex geometry", commented Daniil.
