The first maintenance release since version 4.5 has arrived.
Godot 4.5 marked a major milestone in the engine's development. Among the highlights were stencil buffer support, demonstrated by passivestar, experimental screen reader functionality, the shader baker to reduce long startup times, and much more.
Since its launch less than a month ago, the team has been actively focused on the development of Godot 4.6 and preparing its first snapshot. At the same time, they've been promptly addressing any new bugs or regressions reported following the 4.5 release.
As always, maintenance releases are intended to be safe to upgrade to. However, it's strongly recommended to back up your projects or use a version control system like Git to safeguard your work against potential data loss or corruption.
Around 92 fixes were submitted by 50 contributors for Godot 4.5.1. These updates span various areas of the engine, including the editor, GUI, export system, animation, physics, porting, and more.
If you experience any unexpected behavior change in your projects after upgrading to 4.5.1, please file an issue on GitHub. Also, check out the first development snapshot of Godot 4.6.
