Gothic 1 Remake Gameplay Showcased in a 4-Minute Trailer

The remake aims to provide "a complex life simulation on a scale hardly ever seen before in a video game."

THQ Nordic has showcased a trailer for the Gothic 1 Remake. The new trailer, running over four minutes, demonstrates gameplay, including diverse NPC routines and reactions, more complex crafting, modern features, and more.

"Creating Gothic Remake, we focus on the four pillars that we consider the core of the series: simulation of a living world, exploration, story, and combat. Like the original 2001 title, Gothic Remake is set on creating an immersive and realistic world. ”

According to the developer, the remake aims to provide "a complex life simulation on a scale hardly ever seen before in a video game." Players will be able to "enjoy the unprecedented freedom" offered by the vast open world "in true RPG fashion." The trailer also reveals various characters that players can interact with and earn their respect by working together on a series of quests.

The development of the game began in the summer of 2020, when THQ Nordic established Alkimia Interactive in Barcelona, specifically for the Gothic Remake. Sadly, Piranha Bytes, who created the original Gothic game more than two decades ago, was reportedly shut down at the end of June.
