Guerrilla Games Is Reportedly Working on a Horizon Zero Dawn Remaster

Guerrilla Games is reportedly working on Horizon Zero Dawn remaster for PlayStation 5. The news was first revealed by MP1ST and later was corroborated by VGC which cited its own sources familiar with the matter.

MP1ST's source did not specify if the game would be a remake in the vein of The Last of Us Part I or just a remaster, while VGC refers to the new version of the game as a remaster.

According to the reports, the new version of Horizon Zero Dawn will feature enhanced visuals including an updated lighting system, reworked textures, as well as improved animations and character models that will match those in its sequel released earlier this year, Horizon Forbidden West.

Among other things, the new version of the game will have several graphics modes and various accessibility settings present in the sequel as well as the quality of life improvements to the gameplay itself.

Additionally, MP1ST also reported that the remake/remaster of Horizon Zero Dawn is not the only Horizon-related project that is in the works. According to the outlet's sources, a PlayStation studio, presumably Guerrilla, is also currently developing an online multiplayer game set in the Horizon universe. The game is reportedly planned to release for both the PS5 and PC. 

According to one of MP1ST's sources, the emphasis in the game will be on co-op, although the editors of the outlet could not verify this information. Previously, VGC already published a report stating that Guerrilla could be working on a Horizon multiplayer game.

While we don't know for sure whether Guerrilla is now busy with either one of these projects, it is officially known that the studio is currently developing the VR title Horizon Call of the Mountain that will be released for PSVR2.

In addition, a Netflix show based on Guerrilla Games' Horizon Zero Dawn and Forbidden West is also in development. The series will be created by the writer Steve Blackman who helped bring Netflix's The Umbrella Academy to streaming.
