Guild Wars 3 Officially Revealed for PC and PS5, Beta Coming Fall 2027

Fan speculation was right. After years of rumors, shareholder meeting leaks, fan speculation, and countless community debates, ArenaNet has officially unveiled Guild Wars 3, confirming that the long-awaited next chapter in the MMORPG franchise is finally on the way.

The reveal marks the first entirely new mainline entry in the series since the launch of Guild Wars 2 in 2012, ending more than a decade of uncertainty about the future of one of the MMO genre's most beloved franchises. ArenaNet also confirmed that players will get their first hands-on opportunity with the game during a beta planned for Fall 2027.

For many fans, the announcement feels less like a surprise and more like the culmination of years of anticipation. Guild Wars 3 first entered public discussion back in 2024 when NCSoft executives unexpectedly referenced the project during a shareholder meeting, effectively confirming that ArenaNet had begun work on a third game.

Since then, the studio has remained largely silent while continuing to support Guild Wars 2 through expansions and ongoing live-service updates.

I'm not proud to admit that in college, I nearly failed some classes because of how deeply I got into Guild Wars 2. Needless to say, I'm excited to see more of this game.

The beta isn't coming until Fall 2027, so don't expect a full release until late 2028 at the earliest. You can wishlist the game on PS5 now as well as over on Steam.
