Gumball's Text Scene Rough Animation From The Wonderfully Weird World Of Gumball

Check out Guille G. Fidalgo's work.

The Amazing World of Gumball has always stood out for its unique visuals, blending purely vector characters with photorealistic backgrounds and 3D elements, and creating animation with a strong sense of depth. The show's character animation in particular is frequently inspired by anime with highly exaggerated poses and dynamic camera work, and the new The Wonderfully Weird World of Gumball series is no exception.

2D Animator Guille G. Fidalgo recently shared some of his work for The Wonderfully Weird World of Gumball, giving us a peek at his roughs. Interestingly, the underwater sequence from this funny scene in The Traffic is a reference to The Sunken Place from Get Out (not Kingdom Hearts).

Here's another of Guille's rough animations: Darwin's kick in The Burger, which references FLCL:

You can find more of his work on Instagram. It's always a treat when animators give us a behind-the-scenes look, like these roughs from The Bad Guys 2, recently shared by ChibeTTo:
