Def Con badge is yet another device to support the legendary FPS.
The list of devices and software that can run Doom, already including Blender's Geometry Nodes, Windows' Notepad, LEGO bricks, and more, even the games, for instance, Balatro and Fortnite, has been further expanded by a new item – an attendee's badge from Def Con, a hacking conference held from August 8, 2024 to August 11, 2024, in Las Vegas.
The badge is Tamagotchi-Gameboy hybrid that has a small screen, speakers, and a Raspberry Pi RP2350 microcontroller. Kilograham, the author of the project, shared that it wasn't an easy process. The coder aimed at matching the original game experience, including graphics, sound effects, demo playback, network multiplayer, etc. Kilograham presented a step-by-step explanation of how it was conducted and posted the code on GitHub. The result is Doom running on the badge at 50 fps.
