Hadi Karimi's Audrey Hepburn Head Rig Gets Updated

The project was set up using Maya, ZBrush, and Arnold.

In case you missed it, back in early July, Hadi Karimi, a Character Artist and 3D Sculptor you all know and love, demonstrated a detailed custom-made head rig he created for a 3D portrait of Audrey Hepburn, a legendary British actress who starred in numerous movies back in the 50s-60s era.

Nearly a month later, the artist has provided an anticipated update on this outstanding setup, sharing one more demo that shows how the rig can be used to tweak digital Audrey's face in real-time. As was stated before, the creator utilized a combination of Maya, ZBrush, XGen, and Arnold to set up the portrait and the rig, however, Hadi's Instagram post suggests that Unreal Engine's MetaHuman, a toolset for creating and animating realistic digital characters, was also employed to achieve the gorgeous final result.

Here's the rig's previous demo:

And here are some of Hadi's most recent works:

Earlier, the artist also presented highly-realistic versions of the Girl With a Pearl Earring, Kurt Cobain, Christian Bale's Bruce Wayne, Eminem, his friend Clara, French model Camille Razat, Elon Musk, and many others. You can check out all of these artworks and more by visiting the artist's ArtStation, Twitter, and Instagram pages.

And if you would like to learn more about Hadi's character creation pipeline, we also recommend checking out our recent interview with the artist, who shared the workflow behind the model of his friend Clara, showed how the hair was done using XGen, and explained why historical figures are challenging to recreate.
