Halo: Campaign Evolved Launches in 2026 on Xbox, PC, & PS5

The Halo: CE remake will feature three new prequel missions.

Halo Studios confirmed that the remake of Halo: Combat Evolved campaign will launch in 2026 on Xbox Series X|S, PC, and PlayStation 5, and shipped a new trailer showcasing reimagined versions of the beloved scenes from the original 2001 classic.

Halo: Campaign Evolved is a full remake of the Halo: Combat Evolved campaign, enhanced with high-quality 4K visuals powered by Unreal Engine 5, updated animations, remastered music, and re-recorded voice lines. The rework introduces an arsenal of beloved weapons and vehicles from later Halo games, including three new bonus campaign missions featuring the Master Chief and Sgt. Johnson.

The remake will also support the original two-player local split screen on console, along with up to four-player mode in online co-op across Xbox, PC, and PlayStation 5.

"We wanted to start where it all began, with the original campaign that defined Halo," Executive Producer Damon Conn says. "Starting here means people that have never played the game before will be able to understand the story from the very beginning, and that can help us chart a course forward with new Halo stories."

"Focusing on the campaign experience means we can concentrate fully on really capturing the atmosphere, tone – the emotional impact of what made the first campaign so special and iconic."

In the developer roundtable, the creators share an insightful look at the overall vision and the new enhancements and features introduced to the original title:

However, despite the anticipation for the reworked version of Halo: Combat Evolved, the developer of the original title, Jaime Griesemer, didn't show much enthusiasm in response to the remake. He suggested that changes to some of the features of the game's world don't reflect their initial idea:

Before, there were rumors about the remake concerning its developer studio and engine.
