Rebs Gaming shared the alleged information about the rework.
Halo: Combat Evolved remake might be in collaborative development with the Virtuous studio Abstraction using a hybrid engine, according to a rumor that appeared online.
Game Reporter and YouTube content creator Rebs Gaming, a.k.a. Mr. Rebs, shared this information in a recent video. The mentioned Abstraction studio is a team located in the Netherlands, acquired by Virtuous in December 2024, whose work spans over 60 titles shipped and comprises games such as Halo, Dune Awakening, Mass Effect, and Baldur's Gate.
As for the engine, the reporter specified that the hybrid engine approach uses a modified Halo Reach Blam engine for the mechanics and Unreal Engine 5 for visuals.
Earlier, there have been some talks about the Halo: Combat Evolved rework. At first, it was said to be a remaster, but it later became clear that the project would be a full remake. One of the later suggestions implied that the developers would add to it some cut content and missions, trying to stay faithful to the original.
