It's refreshing after 3 years of Frostbite.

Marcus Lehto, the co-creator of the Halo franchise, seems happy to be back to Unreal Engine after 3 years of Frostbite, the system behind Battlefield, which Lehto was working on as part of EA and Ridgeline Games before he left it earlier this year.
"Really love being back in Unreal Engine after about 3 years. Dusting off my skills and acclimating to all the new awesome stuff in UE5. So good," he said on X/Twitter.
Is Lehto just practicing for fun or will we see a new project from him soon? It's hard to say, but he does have "a couple fantasy game concepts from a few years back [he'd] like to dust off and revive." So if he does announce something new, it will likely be different from what we got from him in the past several years.
At least now he doesn't have to comply with a big publisher's demands for the time being. Lehto recently mentioned that he didn't have "anything positive to say about EA" as well as his departure and layoffs. Speaking of, EA shut down Ridgeline Games as part of its restructuring program and fired 5% of the company's workforce.
We're looking forward to Lehto's next game and suggest you follow him on X/Twitter to receive the latest news about it.
