According to the latest reports, Marcus Lehto, the co-creator of the Halo franchise, has parted ways with EA and Ridgeline Games, a Seattle-based studio established by EA and led by Lehto, which was created to help bring a new narrative campaign set in the Battlefield universe.

Recently, more and more users started noticing that Lehto had updated his profiles on social media and LinkedIn, indicating that he had left EA and Ridgeline Games. The developer hasn't talked about the departure and the reasons behind it so far.

Lehto is well-known as the co-creator of Halo, having worked on Halo: Combat Evolved, Halo 2, Halo 3, Halo 3: ODST, and Halo: Reach before leaving Bungie.

In the summer of 2020, Lehto released the shooter Disintegration with his indie studio V1 Interactive, but the game wasn't successful, which led to the closure of the company. About a year and a half later, the developer founded Ridgeline Games with support from EA and commenced work on the Battlefield franchise.

Speaking of the next Battlefield game, there are still few details. The franchise's overall direction is overseen by Vince Zampella, Co-Founder of Respawn. While multiple EA studios are involved in crafting the sequel to Battlefield, the primary responsibility lies with DICE, serving as the lead team for the project.
