Here Are Some Updates from Sony on God of War & Horizon Zero Dawn Adaptations

There are more game adaptations on the way.

Thanks to the latest CES press conference held by Sony, we're getting more and more news. For example, as we reported today, Sony shared a glimpse of the upcoming Gravity Rush movie. Well, to be more accurate, a few seconds of a character leaping off a building. It's not much news but it's still exciting to get a sneak peek at the upcoming movie.

The company also talked about the success that game adaptations have had recently, saying that they're happy with the positive audience response to their series based on game franchises and they plan to continue creating more.

"The Last of Us generated tremendous interest from both gamers and non-gamers alike. It was the second most-watched HBO series premiere in 13 years. As of this past weekend, The Last of Us has already won eight Emmy awards and is up for five more, including Best Drama Series," said Sony Pictures's President Katherine Pope. "Twisted Metal was also released last year and became one of the top five original series launched on Peacock to date."

The company is shifting focus to two additional game adaptation series: God of War, which is slated for Amazon Prime Video, and Horizon Zero Dawn, set for Netflix. Scripts for the shows are currently in progress, and further details will be disclosed later this year.

Also, Sony Pictures is collaborating on a movie adaptation of the Legend of Zelda game for Nintendo, Wes Ball, the Director of the upcoming adaptation, shared that he'd like it to be in a "live-action Miyazaki" style.

Plans are also underway for a live-action film, as well as mobile and PC game adaptations of the anime One-Punch Man. As well as there are some plans for games and an anime based on the game Patapon, which are not disclosed for now.
