Highly-Realistic 3D Walking Rhino Animation Set Up Using Maya

Nav Singh showcased an impressive new sequence featuring his rhino rig.

In case you missed it, back in February, we featured an incredible 3D rhino animation created by Nav Singh, a Lead Animator at Pixomondo, using a combination of Maya, Houdini, and Unreal Engine 5. Recently, the artist revisited the rig, presenting a new realistic-looking sequence featuring the majestic creature.

This time, the creator depicted the rhino in a much calmer state of mind, showing the horny beast gracefully walking in a lifelike manner. According to Nav, the animation was set up as part of Seneca College's three-class creature lecture, which delved into the techniques and references required to create realistic body mechanics and animating the rhino's muscles using jiggle controllers.

And here's the earlier rhino animation shared by Nav:

Also, check out this comprehensive breakdown that explains how the creature was modeled and rigged for animation:

We highly encourage you to visit Nav's Instagram and LinkedIn pages to see more of his amazing works. And if you'd like to learn more about 3D creature animation in Maya, here are some great tutorials that will help you get started:
