This is just a normal development cycle.
Team Cherry
At this point, Hollow Knight: Silksong has been in development for over 5 years. Announced as a sequel to the popular Metroidvania in 2019, it used to be a DLC but grew so big that Team Cherry decided to make a whole new game out of it. The problem is we still have no idea how the development is going because the team simply doesn't share any updates on it.
Fans are afraid of the worst, but one person, Graig, a frequently appearing person on the game's Discord server, says he knows Team Cherry is "not in dev hell." Great news! However, players weren't reassured much by his words. You see, Graig is often considered a "troll" by others thanks to his sometimes questionable posts.
I'm not familiar with the fandom's drama, but from what I gathered, he was a playtester, although it's hard to say if he still is now. Many players say he has nothing to do with Team Cherry anymore and his words are not to be trusted. Whether or not it's true, Graig claims that the development continues as usual.
"Every software dev cycle ever. Sets internal dates, misses them all the time. Literally a normal part of software dev," he shared. "You just don't hear about them because they don't announce them to the public. Again completely normal for every dev cycle," he said (via GamesRadar.)
As for other people's dismissive comments, he sympathizes with players and hoped this piece of news would help them feel better: "I agree that [Team Cherry] communication should be better. Apparently, I'm a huge POS, though."
Whether or not you believe him, it's nice to have some kind of update on the game, especially this positive. Hopefully, it's true and we will hear more about Silksong from the developers themselves soon.
