Impressive Dinosaur Walk Cycle Animation Made for a Game

Hashbane Interactive continues working on Instinction, an upcoming action-adventure game set in a prehistoric world.

Mrinal Soni, a Creature Animator at Hashbane Interactive, has recently shared a cool behind-the-scenes breakdown demo offering a closer look at Instinction, the studio's upcoming action-adventure game set in a prehistoric world and powered by Unreal Engine 5.

In his latest showcase, Mrinal presented a fluid walk-cycle animation he created for the in-game model of Deinonychus, one of the many anatomically accurate dinosaurs featured in Instinction. According to his LinkedIn post, Mrinal focused solely on the creature's animations, while Vikas Prajapati handled the modeling, Nevil Thummar took care of texturing and shading, and Vimlesh Kumar was responsible for rigging the dinosaur.

Earlier, Vimlesh also gave a detailed look at Deinonychus, showcasing additional gameplay animations for the creature:

The creature model itself was made using Maya, ZBrush, Blender, Substance 3D Painter, and Unreal Engine 5:

Back in 2022, we spoke to Hashbane Interactive's Courtney O'Neill, who discussed the creation of natural environments and dinosaurs for Instinction, told us about the game's core gameplay mechanics, and explained why Unreal Engine 5 was chosen for the title.
