IO Interactive's James Bond Game May Not Be Ready Until 2025

The new financial report suggests that the releases of the studio's new projects, including Project 007, shouldn't be expected at least until 2025.

The new financial report from IO Interactive, the developer best known for the Hitman franchise, suggests that its brand new James Bond game, Project 007, may not be released until March 2025.

In early August, the company released its annual report for the 2021/22 fiscal year reporting revenue of DKK 538 million (around $72.4 million). However, as spotted by Twitter user DarkDetective, while this figure saw a 7% growth compared to the previous fiscal year, the company expects its revenue to decrease in the current financial year reaching DKK 450 to 500 million ($60-67 million).

The company also noted that "solid revenue and profits" in the previous years were delivered by the launch of Hitman 3 but said it anticipates that for "the next couple of years" revenue will drop due to the lack of new releases.

"We had a couple of years with solid revenue and profits, due to launch of a title. There is a risk the next couple of calendar years, the EBITDA and profits will drop," IO Interactive wrote. "This is due to long production phases ahead, before the next releases hit the market. More precisely fiscal 24 and 25 estimates show a significant decrease."

The company's statement could indicate that the releases of the studio's new projects, including Project 007, shouldn't be expected at least until 2025.

Project 007 was first announced via a short teaser in November 2020. The project is said to be a James Bond origin story about getting the 00 Agent status, a tale that was not told in books or movies. The announcement was shortly followed by multiple job listings on IO Interactive's website saying that the studio is looking for "elite talent" to join the development team.

IO Interactive CEO Hakan Abrak previously shared that the studio is also working on several other projects, with one of them reportedly being an Xbox exclusive based on the new "dragon-themed IP."
