Konami's Revenues Reach $510 Million in Q1
Digital entertainment drops but revenues stay the same as last year.
Konami has published a financial report for the three months ended June 30, revealing that its revenue stayed nearly the same as in Q1 last year. The company earned ¥72.6 billion (around $510 million), up 1% year-on-year, and saw an increase in revenues in all categories except for Digital Entertainment, which dropped 5.3% to ¥48.1 billion ($338 million).
A substantial part of the earnings comes from the Metal Gear series, which has sold over 60 million units worldwide, 700,000 of them in the past nine months. Konami also noted that eFootball 2023 "continued to perform well".
As for other categories, Amusement brought the studio ¥3.4 billion ($23.9 million, up 16% year-on-year), Gaming & Systems grew 29.9% year-on-year to ¥10 billion ($70 million), and Sports reached ¥11.6 billion ($82.1 million).
The company expects its revenue to reach ¥328 billion ($2.3 billion) when the fiscal year ends in March 2024.
