A new chance for the studio.
Tango Gameworks
The PUBG publisher KRAFTON announced its acquisition of Tango Gameworks, the developer behind The Evil Within, Ghostwire: Tokyo, and most recently, Hi-Fi RUSH.
This is great news for the studio, which was shut down by Microsoft several months ago. "It’s as much a forward-looking situation as it is one looking back at one certain game," commented Xbox Studios' head Matt Booty back in June, but this, of course, didn't placate fans.
KRAFTON bought not only the studio itself but also the rights to its vibrant rhythm game Hi-Fi RUSH. Despite its poor promotion, the title managed to endear a lot of players, and it looks like we might get something new in the universe as Tango Gameworks will be allowed to "continue developing the Hi-Fi RUSH IP and explore future projects."
"KRAFTON intends to support the Tango Gameworks team to continue its commitment to innovation and delivering fresh and exciting experiences for fans. There will be no impact on the existing game catalog of The Evil Within, The Evil Within 2, Ghostwire: Tokyo, and the original Hi-Fi RUSH game."
KRAFTON sees the acquisition as its "first significant investment in the Japanese video game market," and we hope it means another chance for Tango Gameworks to prove itself.
