The game created by Gamious, a Dutch indie game developer, is coming first to Xbox and PC.
Lake is set in 1986. You take on the role of the main character named Meredith Weiss, a woman in her forties who works hard on building her career in a big city but has to return to her hometown to help her dad. Meredith becomes a mail carrier in a small town in Oregon, Providence Oaks.
During Meredith's stay in her hometown, she meets lots of people, both the ones she has known for years and the ones who do not look familiar at all. You have to decide who Meredith talks to and how she interacts with all these people, who becomes her friend and who remains a random stranger. In the end, Meredith has to decide whether she wants to go back to big city life or stay in Providence Oaks.
As the creators emphasize, you determine your own story so "there are no 'right' or 'wrong' answers or endings, simply what you want to happen."
You can wishlist the game on Steam and request access to the Lake Playtest. According to the developer's latest Twitter announcement, Playtest 2 started a week ago.
