“I've notoriously always been bad at judging the length of our games.”
Baldur's Gate 3 has been considered by many to be one of the biggest RPGs, if not the biggest one. Larian’s official statement about one playthrough of the game was between 75 to 100 hours. If you share the opinion that the game is indeed massive enough, you might be surprised to hear that Baldur’s Gate 3 could have been even bigger.
In a recent interview with BAFTA, when Larian Studio founder and CEO Swen Vincke was asked about things that people may not know about their hit RPG Baldur’s Gate 3, he recalled a very "random tidbit" while admitting there are "many things" that are unknown to players:
"Moonrise Tower used to be two towers. And now we shipped with only one tower. And for a long time there was actually the ruins of the second tower...The reason we removed the extra tower was purely productionally: It was just the game was betting too big, and so we had to cut that out.”

The downsizing of the Moonrise Tower is just an example of how some contents were cut off to avoid the game being too large, as they actually had more content planned for the huge map:
"You would be surprised to know that we actually had many more regions that we planned to make. I was afraid that the game was going to be too short originally, but I've notoriously always been bad at judging the length of our games."
