Leo Torres Invites You to Take a Boat Ride Down a Virtual Jungle River

A combination of Blender, Megascans, and Unreal Engine 5 was used to bring the scene to life.

Leo Torres, a Freelance 3D Artist whose incredible digital environments you all know and love, has recently put on hold his series of large-scale recreations of Skyrim's cities and let his imagination travel from the northern province to a much warmer and pleasant place, producing a new awe-inspiring piece as a result.

Behold Virtual Jungle River, Leo's latest 3D masterpiece that transports viewers into a serene scene featuring a lonely boat floating down the waters of a calm river located in a breathtaking mountainous rainforest. To create the environment, the artist utilized his usual combination of Blender, Megascans, and Unreal Engine 5, leveraging the latter's Lumen for reflections and GI and Nanite for meshes and the landscape.

"Picked up a used 3090 to upgrade my old 3060ti and wow – the difference having that kind of power and VRAM is wild," commented Leo on the goal behind the project. "This scene was mostly to stress test what that new card can handle and it chewed through this scene like a champ!"

And here are some of Leo's earlier works, you can check out more by visiting the author's ArtStation page:
