Leon Was Supposedly Mentioned on Resident Evil Requiem's Store Page

Ahead of its February 27, 2026 launch, Resident Evil Requiem is now available for pre-order. With its store pages going live, the yet-unconfirmed rumor that legendary RE protagonist Leon will appear as a second playable character has once again become the talk of the town within the Resident Evil community, sparked by the Portuguese PS Store page allegedly mentioning him.

The screenshot you see above, supposedly showing a DSO Special Agent outfit for Leon as one of the Deluxe Kit bonuses, first appeared over on Reddit's Gaming Leaks and Rumors, with the caption only reading, "PlayStation Portugal may have leaked the other Resident Evil Requiem Deluxe Edition costume."

Shortly after, the screenshot was re-shared outside of Reddit by insider Dusk Golem, who described it as Sony "accidentally leaking Leon in Resident Evil Requiem," further spreading the rumor. Naturally, when people saw the screenshot, they immediately flocked to the store page themselves – only to find no mention of Leon, which believers dismissed as store admins catching wind of the rumor and promptly altering the page.

With that out of the way, one question remains – is it legit or nah?

TL;DR – nah with a 99.9% certainty.

For a longer answer, let's examine the evidence. First up is the person who shared the original screenshot. To put it mildly, the OP here is highly suspicious, having deleted their Reddit account shortly after posting the screenshot for no explained reason. On top of that, when another Reddit user pointed out the account deletion on the same board, their account was deleted soon after as well, adding even more confusion to the situation.

Secondly, according to the ol' reliable Wayback Machine, the earliest archived version of the page – and the only archived version of the page as of now – contains no mention of Leon. While it's possible the whole incident occurred before that lone snapshot was made, the timelines don't quite add up, since the original Reddit post came several hours after the capture was published.

And finally, as many have pointed out, the original screenshot is extraordinarily easy to fake using Inspect, which lets anyone add anything to a page, take a screenshot, post it online using a throwaway account, claim it's a confirmation, delete the account, and stir up chaos as a result.

So, could the events have happened exactly as the OP claimed? Sure, it's possible. But is it more likely that it was just a fake designed to play on the ongoing will-they-won't-they gossip about Leon in RE9? Oh, absolutely. Ultimately, whether you consider the screenshot to be real or fake is completely up to you.
