Mads Mikkelsen Revealed In Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 4
He's going to "make you cry for mercy."
At Tokyo Game Show 2026, Hideo Kojima and his upcoming game PHYSINT certainly stole the spotlight, with the reveal of Bill Skarsgård's involvement and fresh updates on OD. But Kojima wasn't the only one making headlines: Activision also unveiled the official campaign trailer for long-awaited Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, and near the end, we got a surprise appearance from none other than Mads Mikkelsen as the game's new antagonist.
For now, we don't know much about Mikkelsen's character, "The Archer," beyond the fact that he's working against Captain Price. "I'm going to make you cry for mercy. Everything and everyone you care for dies in ways you can't imagine," he says in the trailer.
Mikkelsen is no stranger to playing villains, of course, he's best known for roles such as Le Chiffre in James Bond's Casino Royale, Hannibal Lecter in the Hannibal TV series, and Kaecilius in Marvel's Doctor Strange. For gamers, he is best known for portraying Cliff Unger in Hideo Kojima's Death Stranding, another memorable villainous performance.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 continues the story following the events of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3:
"War erupts on the Korean Peninsula as North Korea launches a full-scale invasion that threatens to destabilize the world. A young squad of South Korean soldiers fight to survive on the collapsing front lines, while half a world away a vengeful Captain Price wages a personal war from the shadows as he stays one step ahead of those hunting him."
So, how exactly will Mads Mikkelsen's villain fit into this? We'll have to wait until October 23, when Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 launches on Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Windows, and Xbox Series X/S.
