Major Progress Made in the Development of Max Payne 1 & 2 Remake & Control 2

Remedy Entertainment's latest half-year financial report reveals the development progress of some high-anticipated titles.

In Remedy Entertainment's latest half-year financial report, the studio has shared exciting updates on some of its upcoming projects, including the long-awaited Max Payne 1 & 2 remake and the highly anticipated sequel to its acclaimed title, Control.

The Max Payne remake, first announced in 2022 as part of a collaboration with Rockstar Games, has officially transitioned into full production, advancing from its ready-for-production stage in October. Remedy says the development team has been working hard to get the game to an "early functional state from beginning to end." This marks a significant milestone for the project, which was previously in the "production readiness" stage.

As for Control 2, Remedy revealed that the game has progressed to the "production readiness stage during the second quarter of 2024", with the team showcasing "several important features in playable form." The studio is now working on scaling up the game's production, as well as continuing business negotiations.

Except for upcoming titles, the report also covers existing games. Remedy's other high-profile title, Alan Wake 2, still hasn't started generating royalties for the studio despite recouping "most of its development and marketing expenses." The studio did highlight the strong critical reception and fan feedback for the game's recent Night Springs DLC, as well as the upcoming physical edition launch in October.
