Nice and simple.
It's not always easy to see how the curves in a guide curve system will fill the groom volume, so Houdini artist Csaba Kanál offers a little trick that can help visualize the length of the curves and "better represent the proximate fur volume."
With brighter colors along the curves, you can see not only the wolf's body behind the hair but also how the fur sits on top of it.
Kanál is a master of realistic animal models. Take, for example, Esmeralda, a 3D goat that looks ready to run away and wreak havoc in typical goat fashion.
You can find her and the wolf called Henrik on Kanál's LinkedIn page along with other amazing projects.
