Take a Look at This Photorealistic Goat Made With Houdini

GOAT.

Lighting Artist and Houdini Generalist Csaba Kanál has recently wowed thousands of people by showcasing Esmeralda, a 3D goat model so photorealistic it looks as though it could leap out of the screen and start munching on the grass in your immediate vicinity.

According to Csaba, his GOAT goat was groomed using SideFX's flagship procedural 3D software, Houdini, and rendered with Houdini's Solaris, a built-in look development, layout, and lighting toolset for creating USD-based scene graphs, and Karma, Solaris' physically-based path tracing renderer that uses USD as its scene description format.

And here are some of Csaba's previous works, you can check out more by visiting the artist's LinkedIn page:

Earlier, CG Artist and Photographer Tomas Kral also showcased a highly-realistic goat, made with Houdini, which was used to set up the animal's hair, and Blender, used for everything else.

If you'd like to learn more about grooming hair and fur using Houdini's tools, we highly recommend checking out our 80 Level Digest featuring 10 amazing tutorials covering the topic in question.
