MatPlus Brings Substance 3D Painter-Inspired Texture Painting To Blender

Paint directly on 3D models, work across multiple UDIM tiles, and export game-ready texture maps for game engines, all without leaving Blender.

A year ago, BeFX Studios launched MatPlus, a powerful texturing tool inspired by Substance 3D Painter and Mari that lets artists paint and texture their assets directly in Blender, without relying on external software. Everything is organised in a non-destructive layer stack built on a node tree that MatPlus creates for you.

Manage color, roughness, metallic, normal, and bump channels, and make use of paint layers, fill layers, folders, blend modes, opacity controls, and per-layer masks. MatPlus also supports multiple UDIMs and lets you export game-ready texture maps for game engines such as Unreal and Unity.

MatPlus has now been updated to version 1.3, adding support for the latest version of Blender. The release focuses on three key areas: streamlining your workflow with auto-cache, expanding your creative starting points with the BeFX Library and Smart Masks, and giving you better control over presentation with the new Display module.

BeFX Studios recently launched Hurricane, a physics engine for Blender that allows fluids, cloth, soft bodies, and granular materials such as sand to interact within a single simulation:
