Microsoft has announced that Xbox Series X and Xbox Game Pass pricing is set to rise in various countries, starting with the Game Pass increase next month.
Microsoft reported that they’ll increase the price of both Xbox Game Pass and Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. They’re also rising the cost of the Xbox Series X in most countries. However, in the US, Japan, Chile, Brazil, and Colombia, the price tag will remain the same.
Starting on July 6, a month of Xbox Game Pass for consoles will cost $10.99 instead of $9.99, and Game Pass Ultimate will cost $16.99 instead of $14.99. It should also be mentioned that the price of a Game Pass for a PC will not be subject to any changes.
These new recurring pricing won't affect the existing Game Pass monthly subscribers until August 13 (or September 13 in Germany). Furthermore, the updated price won't go into effect if you have a yearly Xbox Game Pass pass until you go to renew your subscription. As for new Xbox Game Pass subscribers, they will notice the increased cost on July, 6.
The price changes for Xbox Game Pass will be felt in the majority of countries, with the exception of Norway, Chile, Denmark, Switzerland, and Saudi Arabia, where some Game Pass prices will not change.
The cost of the Xbox Series X will also rise across Europe, Australia, and Canada. The new price list will be the following: £480 in the UK, €550 in Europe, $650 in Canada, and $800 in Australia. However, the cost of the Xbox Series S will remain $500 in the US. In a similar manner, Sony increased the price of the PS5 in Europe while maintaining the price in America last year.
Xbox Communications Head Kari Perez commented the price hike, saying that they "have adjusted the prices to reflect the competitive conditions in each market".
