The studio shared its new wishlist calculator on Twitter. All you need to do is to make a copy of the document on your Google Drive, fill in the required fields, and the tool will do the rest for you. To calculate how much you will earn in different scenarios, you need to insert the number of current wishlists, the price of your game, the amount of money you spent on it, and indicate how big your publisher share and markup are.
As the Brave At Night team explains, this spreadsheet takes into account some important figures that are often overlooked, for instance, the actual game price differs in various countries, there are discounts, chargebacks, sales tax, and other things that influence the developers' profit. So the calculations go far beyond the Earnings = GamePrice × Wishlishts - PublisherShare formula.
The studio also notes that a lot depends on where the wishlists came from. Purely organic wishlists that did not require any marketing, participation in the festivals, releases of beta versions and demos, convert way better. Brave At Night team also shared that keeping track of the wishlist growth has been a major factor in estimating how successful their latest game Mind Scanners, a retro-futuristic psychiatry simulator, would be.
