Minecraft Meets Deadlock In This Ambitious Mod & It's Not AI
Deadblock is multiplayer and has infinite terrain generation, crafting, mobs, and more.
If you've been on the gaming side of X/Twitter over the past few weeks, you've probably noticed the rise of vibe-coded mods, like Minecraft in Elden Ring. While the ideas behind these projects can look really cool, the problem is that the majority of them aren't actually playable. However, Jetsetworm's project, which mixes Minecraft with Deadlock, isn't vibe-coded, and the developer is keen to emphasize that it's a real, playable mod built completely in-engine, with months of work already behind it.
Jetsetworm apparently works as a software developer, writing "medical software used by millions every day", and the Deadblock mod is something they're building purely for fun. As you can see, the mod brings all the familiar Minecraft mechanics into Deadlock, Valve's upcoming MOBA, which recently received a major update and seems to be growing in popularity. Aside from the infinite terrain generation featured at the top of the page, Jetsetworm has added and showcased Minecraft armor, a fully working cobblestone generator, a crafting table, and even some mobs, including slimes and zombies. It's basically Minecraft: Source 2 at this point.
Someone asked the developer whether they've run into any things that Deadlock simply can't do:
"Deadlock's engine restricts the playable area to a ±16,000 unit box, which translates to ~36 chunks. To work around this, technically, players are strapped into 'omni-treadmills' to traverse the voxel worldspace while barely moving in Deadlock's engine."

Jetsetworm has also worked on other Deadlock-related projects. For example, they added pizza boxes to the hideout matching the Pizza Index. It references a fan theory that Valve developers order huge amounts of pizza when working on major Deadlock updates. The joke even led fans to monitor pizza delivery orders around Valve's headquarters to try to predict when a big update was coming.
They also may or may not have made the infamous fruit fly play Deadlock:
You can't play Deadblock freely right now, but you can check out the gameplay video below to see its features in action:
