Someone Just Put All Of Minecraft Into Super Mario 64
Is this a Mario 64 mod or a Minecraft mod?
Swirly, a programmer known for creating Minecraft mods, has shared a clip showcasing his latest ambitious project, which feels almost like a fever dream and leaves you wondering exactly what is modding what. It appears to be a Minecraft mod for Mario 64, as Swirly mentioned that the mod was built on the existing CoopDX fork of Mario 64, an online multiplayer project for the PC port of Super Mario 64.
It's really cool to see Minecraft's blocks and mechanics inside Super Mario 64's levels and watch how the geometry behaves. But, of course, it didn't take long for people to start questioning whether the whole thing was AI-generated. Swirly said it's not vibe-coded, and he started working on the mod months ago, "well before Astra or these other super models," although he did use AI tools to help with debugging during development.
He's currently working on an in-depth technical breakdown covering what happens at the code level, the full process he followed to get the project this far, and the overall development timeline. The mod is also planned for release.
