Nerdeo, Escape Studios, Autodesk and Wacom Launch VFX Competition

The competition invites teams of students and junior creative professionals from across the world to participate in the contest.

Teams have time until 13 February 2022 to submit their work via Nerdeo’s ‘Post a Project’ section. Once the competition closes, an international judging panel will pick their top three entries and the winners will be announced at the VFX Festival in Spring 2022, which is organized by Escape Studios.

The judging panel includes:

  • Caroline Pires - Founder of Nerdeo and VFX Supervisor
  • Victor Perez - VFX Supervisor/Director
  • Rebecca Clay - VFX Supervisor, UNTOLD Studios
  • Ben Fischer - Industry Strategy Manager for Media & Entertainment, Autodesk
  • Sara Bennett - Visual Effects Supervisor, Milk Visual Effects

“Creating studio-ready talent is central to our mission at Escape Studios, so we’re thrilled to partner with Nerdeo on this fantastic competition that will inspire budding creatives from around the world. What better place to showcase the winners than our VFX Festival - our international gathering that brings together an awesome creative community.”, said Anita Gribble, Head of Industry Outreach at Escape Studios.

The process to participate in the contest: 

1. Create a two-minute trailer or proof of concept with at least 30 seconds worth of VFX.

2. Publish the project through Nerdeo by clicking on “Post A Project”.

3. Make sure you describe your VFX pipeline on the project description or tasks.

4. Copy the project public URL and send that in together with the rest of your information on the competition registration page

The participants have a chance to win:

  • The film featured on our website blog  and social media with all due credits
  • Nerdeo Merchandise Pack sent to the whole team.
