Netflix has released a new trailer for the Cyberpunk: Edgerunners anime. The Studio Trigger trailer is a longer version of the teaser released in June, and it focuses on introducing the Edgerunners Crew: David, Maine, Dorio, Kiwi, Pilar, Rebecca, and Lucy. The vibrant video hints at the team's background, which we will see in September this year when the show comes out.
Cyberpunk: Edgerunners tells a 10-episode story about a street kid David trying to survive in Night City. Having everything to lose, he stays alive by becoming an edgerunner – a mercenary outlaw also known as a cyberpunk.
The anime is made by the developers of the original RPG Cyberpunk 2077 CD PROJEKT RED in collaboration with Studio Trigger – an animation studio that created Little Witch Academia and Kill La Kill. Hiroyuki Imaishi (Gurren Lagann, Kill la Kill, Promare) will direct the series along with creative director Hiromi Wakabayashi (Kill la Kill), character designer and animation director Yoh Yoshinari (Little Witch Academia, BNA: Brand New Animal), and the adapted screenplay by Yoshiki Usa (GRIDMAN UNIVERSE series, Promare) and Masahiko Otsuka (Star Wars: Visions ‘The Elder’). The score will be composed by Akira Yamaoka (Silent Hill series).
