New Material Maker 1.6 Has Been Released

The new version introduces Controlled Variations, Aperture nodes, a basic glTF exporter for static PBR materials, and more.

RodZilla

Software developer RodZilla has presented Material Maker 1.6, an updated version of a free visual programming tool for creating procedural materials. The creator notes that a major part of the updates was contributed by williamchange.

The new features include implemented vertical tabs in the Preferences dialog and enabled tab rearrangement for the projects panel, alongside an updated graph navigation to retain subgraph offsets and circuit/metro style connections. The 1.6 version also features drag and drop support for image parameters and edge scrolling when dragging connections.

The nodes toolset now features Controlled Variations that are similar to Variations, except that it modifies four custom variables instead of the seed. Apart from this, the setup now includes Aperture nodes for named wireless connections between nodes and a basic glTF exporter for static PBR materials.

Check out some of the amazing works created using the previous versions of Material Maker, such as a surreal warped clocks material, steampunk material, and an illuminated fish pond material by Mingwei Lim, also known as CMZW or celestialmaze:
