Junghun Lee believes artificial intelligence has improved the efficiency of game development.
The use of text-to-speech in ARC Raiders – viewed by most as one of the rare examples of an ethical usage of AI-like technology – has nonetheless sparked the discussion about whether Embark's implementation was justified.
Responding to the debacle, the CEO of Nexon, Junghun Lee, said one should assume every game company uses AI by now, expressing the belief that "AI has definitely improved efficiency in both game production and live service operations."

Although AI, and especially generative AI, remains a highly controversial topic, for Lee, the main priority is Nexon's capability to survive in an industry that is constantly evolving, with him saying that "it's important to choose a strategy that increases your competitiveness."
"TTS allows us to increase the scope of the game in some areas where we think it's needed, or where there's tedious repetitions, in situations where the voice actors may not see it as valuable work," he said, adding that ARC Raiders doesn't use any generative AI.
Speaking of creatives' use of AI, a recent survey by Poliigon revealed that only 22% of 3D Artists utilize the technology on a regular basis, and even fewer of them employ 3D model generators in particular, indicating that despite the technology's expansion, most creators are still skeptical about it at best and downright detest it at worst.
