Are you planning on releasing the UE4 project to the public? Or only builds? I'd love to play around with it in the editor if possible!
Check out a free importer for Autodesk Maya by Sergey Makeev called Ninja Ripper. The tool is capable of importing models, normals, UVs and materials. What is more, you can import a large number of files simultaneously.

- Clone repo to any folder;
- Run “Source script” -> “NinjaImporter.py” from Maya Script Editor.
