Nintendo Switch 2's $10 Welcome Tour Costs Over $100 If You Want to 100% Complete It

Oh, and you'll also need a 4K screen.

Nintendo Switch 2 is finally here, and with it comes its controversial Welcome Tour, an interactive exhibit filled with mini-games designed to showcase the new handheld's features, which many have criticized for carrying a $10 price tag.

And while debates over video game pricing and Nintendo's decision to raise costs during global crises continue, it turns out the ones hit hardest by the Welcome Tour are 100% completionists, for whom fully finishing the experience will cost far more than just $10.

As spotted by IGN, platinuming the Nintendo Switch 2 Welcome Tour requires you to have a camera and a controller with GL/GR buttons to complete two of the mini-games, along with a 4K-capable screen for a third.

Putting on the green eyeshade, that means on top of the $10 game itself, players will also need $55 for a Switch 2 Camera, and either $40 for a Charging Grip or $85 for a Switch 2 Pro Controller to access the GL/GR buttons – bringing the total to at least $105 to 100% the experience, assuming you already own or have access to a 4K TV.

In its number-crunching write-up, IGN notes that Switch 2 does support third-party cameras, so at the very least, it's possible to find a cheaper option. Unfortunately, that's the only thing you can realistically save money on, as the original Switch Pro Controller – while compatible with Switch 2 – doesn't include the necessary GL/GR buttons.

So, what's your take on the real cost of platinuming Switch 2's Welcome Tour? Is it a predatory monetization scheme, or is criticizing the experience for that particular aspect akin to blaming consoles for needing a TV? Share your thoughts in the comments!
