chiaki4deck has received a new update allowing you to do that.
In December 2023, the creators of chiaki4deck, an open-source tool that facilitates game streaming from PlayStation consoles to Steam Deck through the Playstation Remote Play feature, released a major update to their program. This update introduced support for HDR mode on Steam Deck, which features an OLED display.
This innovative addition enables Valve's portable PC to stream games from PlayStation 5 using the Remote Play function while maintaining HDR support. In comparison, the PlayStation Portal device lacks this capability as Sony equipped it with a non-HDR screen.
To assist users in setting up game streaming in HDR mode, the developers of chiaki4deck have published detailed instructions on GitHub. They have emphasized that this feature is exclusively supported on PS5. Also, the option is functional on the original Steam Deck, although it requires the connection of an external HDR display.
Speaking of Valve, recently the company asked players to stop sniffing Steam Deck (it did become a thing among the owners for some reason), trying to prevent dangerous and harmful consequences that people might face.
