NVIDIA Unveils Updates To RTX Features At GDC 2026
DLSS 4.5's Dynamic Multi Frame Generation now has a release date, a new system for dense, path-traced foliage in RTX Mega Geometry has been unveiled, and more.
At the GDC Festival of Gaming running from March 9-13, NVIDIA revealed news surrounding some of the latest innovations, upcoming RTX-powered titles, RTX Remix mods, GeForce NOW, and more.
Earlier this year, we reported on the new DLSS 4.5 update, and NVIDIA has now confirmed the exact release date for the Dynamic Multi Frame Generation feature, launching on March 31, 2026, for RTX 50 Series GPUs. For those unfamiliar, it's an AI-based adaptive frame rate booster that adjusts frame multipliers to get closer to your screen's maximum refresh rate.
Control was one of NVIDIA's original RTX showcase titles, and its follow-up, Control Resonant, received the same treatment, alongside 007 First Light:
After debuting in Alan Wake 2, RTX Mega Geometry is now set to appear in The Witcher 4, which already incorporates multiple next-generation technologies, including Nanite Foliage introduced in Unreal Engine 5.7.
NVIDIA has partnered with CD PROJEKT RED to create an RTX Mega Geometry foliage system that leverages partitioned top-level acceleration structures. This approach allows massive portions of a scene to be instanced and updated on every frame. As a result, it becomes possible to path-trace dense environments with millions of uniquely animated, highly detailed foliage elements. The technology is also said to go open-source later this year.
