Google Cloud and NVIDIA announced new AI infrastructure and software to build and deploy models for generative AI and speed data science workloads. It means that NVIDIA's generative AI technology is now available and optimized for Google Cloud users.

The companies are hoping to bring machine learning services "to some of the largest AI customers in the world" and make it easy to run AI supercomputers with Google Cloud services built on NVIDIA tech.

“We’re at an inflection point where accelerated computing and generative AI have come together to speed innovation at an unprecedented pace,” said NVIDIA founder and CEO Jensen Huang. “Our expanded collaboration with Google Cloud will help developers accelerate their work with infrastructure, software and services that supercharge energy efficiency and reduce costs.”

Now, Google's PaxML, a framework for building large language models (LLMs), is optimized for NVIDIA accelerated computing. Developers can use NVIDIA H100 and A100 Tensor Core GPUs in their work easily.

A GPU-optimized PaxML container is already available in the NVIDIA NGC software catalog. Moreover, PaxML runs on JAX, which has been optimized for GPUs using the OpenXLA compiler.

As part of their joint efforts, the companies announced Google's integration of serverless Spark with NVIDIA GPUs through Google's Dataproc service, which should help data scientists speed Apache Spark workloads.
