Painterly Post-Process Filter Made in UE5 for a 3D Character

The shader was created by Michal Patton and works in any lighting condition.

3D Character Artist Michal Patton has unveiled Cadet, an impressive non-photorealistic model of a futuristic-looking soldier, created by the artist to learn more about the stylized character LookDev.

Based on one of Adrian Bush's illustrations, the character features an outstanding custom-made post-process filter, which gives the character a painterly look and, according to its creator, works in any lighting condition, set up by Michal using Unreal Engine 5. Additionally, the artist utilized Maya, ZBrush, Substance 3D Painter, and Substance 3D Designer to model and texture the character.

Furthermore, the author has also shared a brief breakdown, offering a behind-the-scenes look at how the painterly filter was made:
